PARO

JAKAR

It is locally known as Chamkhar and is located near the foothills of Chokhor Valley. What attracts people to this place the most is the Jakar Dzong, it is also a popular trading centre in Bhutan. It is the largest Dzong in all Bhutan, it takes several days to complete a tour of the valleys that surround it. This region is mainly known for its trading centre and the famous attraction in this place is the Jakar Dzong.

WANGDUE PHORANG

Another very important place to visit in Bhutan is Wangdue Phodrang, it is a beautiful and calm town that is located in central Bhutan and serves as a border to the nearby town Punakha. Wangdue Phodrang is popularly known for the production of bamboo, slate and stone carvings. A worthy tourist attraction is the Wangdue Phodrang dzong which is only opened for visitors during Wangduephodrang Tsechu celebration that is mostly held during autumn. Wangdue Phodrang provides rich pastureland for cattle and offers attractive scenery together with the confluence of Punakha Chhu and Tang Chhu.

PUNAKHA

This is a spectacular destination in Bhutan; Punakha is mostly visited by adventure seekers from all over the world.  If you are one those who love to see the rush hour situation of river rafting in river Mo and Pho, then this is the place to be. Many people might know Punakha before now because of the 17th-century fortress Punakha Dzong that is positioned boldly beside the Pho and Mo Chhu. The national sport of Bhutan Archery is a competition that is filled with high spirit every year during tournaments and festivals. It was already a popular activity in the late 1920s before it was declared an official sport in 1971, and now today it is an important sport in Bhutan. In this competition, there are two types of archers; the traditional archers whose bows and arrows are made of bamboo and modern archers that make use of equipments made from synthetic fibre and carbon fibre fittings. TREKKING THROUGH THE TIGER’S NEST MONASTERY

The Tiger’s Nest Monastery or Taktsang Palphug Monastery is a beautiful site that everyone must see and encounter.
