Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) Wat Arun is located opposite to the Grand Palace, directly across the Chao Phraya River. To get to this location, you can take a boat from Sapphan Taksin boat pier and you will be taken to pier 8. From pier 8, there will be a shuttle boat ready to take you across the river. The beauty of the Wat Arun is very engaging so be ready to spend a lot of time admiring the amazing designs of this structure. Its full name is Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, can you pronounce this? It is better we call it Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn. Its golden color makes it a beauty to see during the day. Chatuchak Market All the fans of shopping gather here, there is something for you in Bangkok. This is the most beautiful market you will see when viewed from above. There are over 8000 stalls in this market making it one of the largest in the world; it makes use of over 27 acres of land. The Grand Palace It’s called The Grand Palace for a reason and this reason is best known to the builders of this marvelous structure. In Thailand, the Grand Palace is one of the major tourist attractions that develop some revenue for the government. This was the home of the kings of Siam back in 1782 but the current king does not live there. It is now mostly used for activities of the activities of the state or royal ceremonies. Dusit Palace Dusit Palace is now the official residence of King Rama V, but it was his primary residence. This complex was built between 1897 and 1901 by the king as a place to go and relax from the struggles of the Grand Palace. The Bangkok National Museum The Bangkok National Museum is where you can find the largest collection of artifacts and Thai art in all of Thailand. King Rama V opened the museum for the main purpose of showing off the gifts his father gave to him. Chinese weapons, precious stones, puppets, clothing and textiles and Khon masks are the various things you will find here. Their ancient design makes them look so unique and eye- catching, it is best to go to the museum on a Thursday so as to receive your tour in English if you do not understand their language. Sathorn Unique Tower Before the financial crisis hit the world a few years ago, there was a huge 49 story skyscraper which was built in the heart of Bangkok, but as the crisis hit the society, so did it hit the building. Work stopped and the tower was never completed, now you will find it right there abandoned because it is far too big for anyone to do anything with, only if you want to climb it. You will find some security guards at the bottom of the tower and you will need to pay them but once you do that, you can have the tower to yourself. The views from the top are amazing and breathtaking and trust me; it is worth the money and time. Stroll Through Lumpini Park A 500,000 sq. meters park called the Lumpini Park provides the people of Bangkok with a much needed break from the hustle and bustle during the day to day activities of the city. The name of the park was gotten from the Lord Buddha, whose birthplace was Nepal. This is a very large park but it is usually filled up with people who come to relax and perform different activities for themselves so it is probably best to visit the park in the morning when everyone is at work so as to have the entire park to yourself. Visit Chinatown Almost every major city in the world has its own Chinatown and Bangkok is not left out of the party, once you pass through the giant, ceremonial Chinese gates, you will know that you have waled into Chinatown. It is usually filled with street shops and restaurants that offer different choices of food to visitors and people who visit the Chinatown. You will not get another place that is filled with different cuisines of Chinese food, this is the best.
